The programme is now available for the second annual research conference on
employer engagement in education overseen by the Education and Employers
Taskforce. Thirty places are left at the leading European conference
considering the role of employer engagement in educational settings.

Keynotes speakers:

Professor Robert Schwartz (Academic Dean, Harvard University) lead author
of influential US report Pathways to Prosperity (2011)*
Dr Jan-Eric Sundgren (Senior Vice-President Public and Environmental
Affairs, Volvo Group), speaking on the EU-funded European Co-ordinating
Body for Maths, Science and Technology.

This year's conference considers the relationship between employers and
education from primary through to higher education, focusing particularly
on questions of social mobility and delivery mechanisms in international
perspective.  Papers cover such topics as:

•    Effective delivery of work experience to challenge reproduction social
inequalities
•    Longitudinal analyses of social mobility in the UK
•    Engagement of independent schools with employers to support pupil
progression
•    Employer engagement in Egypt and the Arab region
•    UK and US conceptual frameworks for understanding employer engagement
within young people's life courses
•    Impact analysis of school-age employer engagement activities on young
adults, including labour premiums
•    University delivery of employer engagement activities
•    The role of the employee governor, enterprise education and youth
apprenticeships

Presenters include:

Professor Steve Brammer (University of Bath), Professor Alan Brown
(Warwick Institute for Employment Research), Professor Fiona Devine
(Manchester University), Professor Prue Huddleston (University of Warwick),
Professor Chris James (University of Bath), Dr Keith Kintrea (University of
Glasgow), Professor Hugh Lauder (University of Bath), Professor Ken Mayhew
(University of Oxford), Dr James Stone III (University of Louisville, USA),
Dr. Sulieman Sulieman (UNESCO) and Professor Alison Taylor (University of
Alberta, Canada)
