Dear Colleagues,

Kindly note a short extension on acceptance of abstracts and proposals for
the UWI/UNESCO Caribbean Conference on TVET to be held at the Hilton, Rose
Hall Resort and Spa in Jamaica during March 7 - 9, 2012.

The new closing date is January 20, 2012.  All persons interested in TVET
and Workforce Development are invited to attend as participants.
Registration for attendance will be processed after indication of interest.

The University of the West Indies (UWI) and the United Nations Educational
Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) are pleased to invite
abstracts for papers and proposals for workshop presentations for their
first International (Caribbean) Conference on Technical and Vocational
Education and Training (TVET) which will be held during March 7 – 9, 2012
at the Hilton Rose Hall Resort in Montego Bay.  The theme of the Conference
is "TVET and Human Capacity Development in the Caribbean"

The objectives of the conference are:

1.      To provide an opportunity for Technical Vocational Education and
Training (TVET) and other Human Capacity Development (HCD) practitioners to
meet and share ideas towards developing a regional TVET and HCD Policies.
2.      To provide an opportunity for educators, trainers, students and
private sector contributors to exhibit and share their works in research,
professional practices and learning experiences with TVET and HCD
activities.
3.      To harness information on TVET from the Caribbean Region to inform
the Global debate on TVET.

Papers and presentations may address, Technical and Vocational Education
issues including but not limited to the following areas:

1.      Issues and  challenges of TVET and HCD
2.      Leadership development for TVET & HCD
3.      TVET training approaches and practices
4.      Competency-based education and training
5.      Curriculum development  in TVET & HCD
6.      TVET and HCD in higher education
7.      Best practices and approaches to the implementation of TVET& HCD
internationally.
8.      Integration of TVET in the formal education system
9.      Policy development and implementation for TVET & HCD
10.    Evaluation of TVET & HCD programmes
11.    Innovations and research in TVET & HCD
12.    TVET and HCD as tools for addressing the Global Recession
13.    Philosophical foundation for TVET and HCD
14.    The relationship between general education and TVET
15.    The influence of mathematics, science and information technology
on TVET & HCD
16.    Mathematics, Science & Information Technology for TVET

We invite papers on any of the above topics which address leadership,
deficiencies, concerns and challenges facing TVET. In addition to the
conference proceedings, selected papers will be peer reviewed for
publication in the on-line International Journal for Leadership in TVET and
Workforce Development and or the Caribbean Journal of Education.

Articles selected for publication must follow the format of the American
Publication Association (APA) Manual (latest edition).  The articles should
be double-spaced, inclusive of tables, figures and reference page(s) but
not exceeding twenty five (25) pages. Articles should not be published or
submitted for publication elsewhere. An abstract of about 200 words, single
spaced is required at the beginning of the paper.  Accepted articles may
not necessarily appear in the next scheduled volume but will appear in a
subsequent volume.

All articles should be sent electronically to any of the email addresses
listed below.  For each article submitted, the author's name, address and
the title of the article should appear on a separate page to ensure
anonymity in the peer review process.  The authors are responsible for
crediting the sources from which the information was obtained for preparing
the articles.  Authors will be notified about the status of their paper(s)
as soon as the peer review process is completed.
