Subject: HIV AIDS awareness
Are the following links and attached documents (see links at bottom) of any
use? The major problem faced in BW is not lack of resource materials, or
getting a HIV/AIDS slot in the induction programme - but the integration
of HIV/AIDS related issues in the 'normal' vocational training courses -
most teachers 'shy-away' cosidering it to be not their responsibility,
shifting it to guidance and councelling section.
I am sure you will not lack resource materials as they are abundant. Here
some I used myself:
Integrated HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care (COL)
http://www.col.org/resources/crsMaterials/Pages/default.aspx
HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention (Alison)
http://alison.com/course/search.php?search=HIV%2FAIDS
HIV and AIDS
http://www.engenderhealth.org/files/pubs/courses/hiv.pdf
YouTube video clips
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=hiv+aids+educational+video&aq=0&oq=HIV%2FAIDS+education
The 'spread of disease' activity I generally use as 'icebreaker' followed
by the 'wall activity'. The issued raised 'on the wall' form the basis for
the rest of the programme - tackling the questions and issues raised.
