Dear e-Forum members, 

It is a great pleasure to share with you the synthesis report of the
discussion on TVET in post-conflict and post-disaster situations, moderated
by Karina Veal from 16 to 30 April 2012 on the UNEVOC e-Forum.

The report highlights that reaching out effectively to individuals whose
lives have been disrupted by conflict or disaster takes time, resources and
expertise. It furthermore concludes that developing and rebuilding TVET in
countries post-conflict and post-disaster requires the involvement of local
communities at all stages, ensuring connection to employers, placing
emphasis on quality and relevance of training, and taking care to provide
opportunities for all sectors of society.

Many thanks to Karina Veal for her excellent job as moderator and for
writing the synthesis report, which we believe will be very helpful in
encouraging further debate and understanding on the topic of TVET in
post-conflict and post-disaster settings. Finally, we would like to thank
all participants for their valuable contributions and feedback. We welcome
your suggestions/comments for the next moderated discussion and synthesis
report at e-forum@unevoc.unesco.org.
