Inspiring Education: Creativity and Entrepreneurship
6-8 December, 2011, Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, Indonesia
What do you want to be when you grow up?
A simple question raking up memories of childhood dreams, hopes and
responsibilities. For many people, it hinges on having an education.
The world needs a variety of personalities, imaginations, talents and
skills to meet 21st century aspirations and challenges. Education must
nurture creativity, stimulate ingenuity, encourage the questioning spirit,
and promote strategic thinking. By learning through their multiple
intelligences and developing through various pathways for self-discovery
and experimentation, childhood dreams and hopes may come true. Creativity
and entrepreneurship are critical elements in this dialogue on cultivating
talents and skills.
This year, UNESCO is convening the 15th UNESCO-APEID International
Conference, Inspiring Education: Creativity and Entrepreneurship, in
collaboration with the World Bank and the Ministry of National Education in
Indonesia, to foster discussions on creativity and entrepreneurship, and
strengthen their linkages in education and the workplace.
Sub-themes
I. Concepts and context of creativity and entrepreneurship in the 21st
century
* Identifying values, aspirations, knowledge, competencies and skills for
creativity and entrepreneurship
* Providing space and opportunities for creativity and entrepreneurship in
education systems and the work place
* Conducting research on creativity and entrepreneurship
* Strengthening the linkages between creativity and entrepreneurship
II. Innovative strategies, designs and models for creativity and
entrepreneurship
* Nurturing creativity and entrepreneurship in- and out-of-school and at
work
* Developing programmes, pedagogy, curricula and materials for creativity
and entrepreneurship
* Enhancing capacity to advance and support creativity and
entrepreneurship
* Promoting creative economy and industries in formal, informal and
non-formal settings
III. Institutional frameworks and financing mechanisms to promote
creativity and entrepreneurship
* Encouraging policy dialogues and collaboration on creativity and
entrepreneurship
* Designing governance, management and regulatory frameworks and processes
* Establishing sustainable financial mechanisms to support creativity and
entrepreneurship
* Strengthening public and private sector partnerships
Call for Papers
The organizers invite papers on the Conference sub-themes. Submit English
abstracts, no longer than 200 words, on forms available from the Conference
website at http://www.unescobkk.org/education/apeid/conference2011 by 5
August 2011.

Early bird* US$ 250
Full-time student US$ 150
Resident of Indonesia US$ 150
Group registration** US$ 250 each
* Payment must be received by UNESCO Bangkok by 28 October 2011 for early
bird registration.
