Hi Guillermo Ferna, "Cruel." "Disgusting." "Inhumane." "Barbaric." Those are words that Care2 members have used to describe Canada's commercial seal hunt. I'd add "unethical and unnecessary" myself. Tell the Canadian government to end the seal hunt » The clubbing of 400,000 seal pups is a tragedy in and of itself. But what's worse is it's completely unnecessary. The fishermen who do the killing don't need the seal hunt to make a living. The European Union has even banned seal products from Canada's hunt, closing off a huge market. But the Canadian government just isn't willing to give up on the barbaric practice. In fact, the government has been fighting the EU's ban, essentially forcing seal products on countries and people who don't want them. It's unethical and flat out bad economics to continue the seal hunt every year. It's time to end this cruel practice once and for all.
